Mervyn is the Chair of the Integrated Reporting Committee of South Africa, Chair of the African Integrated Reporting Council and Chair Emeritus of the King Committee on Corporate Governance in South Africa. He is Chair Emeritus of the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC) and of the Global Reporting Initiative, and a member of the Private Sector Advisory Group to the World Bank on Corporate Governance. He is the Patron of The Good Governance Academy.
Mervyn is a Senior Counsel and former Judge of the Supreme Court of South Africa. He is Professor Extraordinaire at the University of South Africa on Corporate Citizenship, Honorary Professor at the Universities of Pretoria and Cape Town, a Visiting Professor at Rhodes and a professor at the Wits Business School at the University of the Witwatersrand. He has received honorary doctorates from a number of universities around the world. He has received Lifetime Achievement Awards for promoting quality corporate governance globally from the ICGN and other organisations, as well as a number of honorary fellowships and international awards.
He chaired the United Nations Committee of Eminent persons on Governance and Oversight and was President of the Advertising Standards Authority for 15 years and a member of the ICC Court of Arbitration in Paris for seven years. He has been a chair, director and chief executive of several listed companies. He has consulted, advised and spoken on legal, business, advertising, sustainability and corporate governance issues in over 60 countries. He sits as an arbitrator and mediator internationally. He is the author of six books on governance, sustainability and reporting.

Alfred has been involved in financial markets since 1998, starting his career as an investment analyst at ABN AMRO where he was a rated analyst in the Electronics sector of the JSE, before joining Nedbank Group in 2000. At Nedbank, Alfred had two key roles - the first was establishing the group’s strategy unit where he worked on the Nedbank turnaround in 2002/3, landed the new corporate strategy and prepared the group’s business plans. The second key role since 2011, and his current position, is head of investor relations. Under Alfred’s leadership the group has received more than 35 reporting awards over the years, establishing Nedbank as a leader in reporting and communication with the investment community
CEO, Johannesburg Stock Exchange
With over 25 years of international experience, primarily in financial services, Leila Fourie has served on multiple boards and held senior roles in banking, capital markets and payments. Leila was appointed as CEO of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange effective 1 October 2019. Prior to this role, she held the role of CEO of the Australian Payments Network.
Leila served as Executive responsible for Consumer Finance at Australia’s largest bank, The Commonwealth Bank of Australia, and served as the NSW Vice President of the Economic Society of Australia and on the Board Audit Committee of Lifeline Australia.
Before moving to Australia, Leila served on the Board of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange as Executive Director. Leila previously worked for one of South Africa’s largest banks, Standard Bank, as Card Division Managing Director. During this time, she served as Chairman on the board of Diners Club and Board Member on Discover’s Chicago-based Diners Club International Advisory board. Leila started in Standard Bank’s Investment Bank as Global Director Credit analytics, capital and portfolio management for SA, UK, Hong Kong, Russia, Brazil and Argentina.
Leila has a PhD in Economic and Financial Sciences and won the Economic Society South Africa Founders’ award in 2012 for best Masters Economics thesis in the country. Leila has published several articles in academic journals and actively advocates for policy development in various sectors

Chief Corporate Affairs and Investor Relations Officer, Imperial Logistics Ltd
Esha is a member of the IRC of South Africa’s Working Group, and has over 13 years’ experience in investor relations, communication and integrated reporting. Esha currently serves as the Chief Corporate Affairs and Investor Relations Officer and a member of the executive committee of Imperial Logistics Limited (Imperial) where she is responsible for investor relations, internal and stakeholder communications, brand positioning, sustainability, ESG and integrated reporting. She is also the chairman of Imperial’s global women’s forum.
Prior to this, Esha served as the group head of investor relations and media spokes person for Imperial Holdings Limited. Esha’s previous roles include the head of investor relations at Kumba Iron Ore Limited, a subsidiary of the Anglo American plc group, and investor relations officer and media spokesperson for Harmony Gold Mining Company. She currently serves as a director and trustee of the Imperial and Motus Community Trust and the Unjani Clinics NPC. Michael Bray is Director – In-Country Engagement of the International Integrated Reporting Council, driving in-country integrated reporting adoption and assurance. Michael has been associated with the IIRC since its inception, most recently as a member of the IIRC Board of Directors (2017 to 2020).Prior to joining the IIRC management team, Michael was a Director of KPMG Australia’s Better Business Reporting Services (2016-2020), and an audit partner of KPMG Australia until 2016 (1989-2016). Michael led the global development of KPMG’s Performance Insight service to assist clients in improving their corporate reporting and corporate reporting management systems.Michael continues as Professor of Practice (Integrated Reporting) at Deakin University, Director – Industry Engagement & Thought Leadership within the Deakin Integrated Reporting Centre, and Project Executive for the Australian Business Reporting Leaders Forum.Michael was the Executive Partner of KPMG’s Global, Asia Pacific and Australian Energy & Natural Resources groups between 2001 and 2010, a Director of the Australian Energy Policy Institute, and an alternate member of the 2015 B20 Infrastructure & Investment Task Force.
