Chief executive officerLeon was appointed as group chief executive officer on 6December 2017. He completed a Higher National Diploma in Human Resources in1987 before attaining a BCom degree in Marketing (Unisa) in1994. He joined PEPin 1990. In 2000, he joined the supermarket group Panda in the Middle East ashead of operations before returning to PEP in 2002. He was appointed asoperations director in 2004 and became managing director of PEP SA in 2011. In2016, Leon was appointed as Group MD: Pepkor Africa and he became chiefoperating officer of Pepkor Holdings at its listing on 20 September 2017.He hasmore than 27 years’ experience in retail, primarily from store operations inthe discount sector of the market. Leon serves as a director on a number ofsubsidiary boards in the Pepkor group.

Chief financial officerRiaan was appointed as group chief financial officer on 18August 2017. He completed his articles with Ernst &Young in 1995, whereafter he spent six years with Shoprite as a financial manager. He joinedWoolworths in 2001 and was the Woolworths retail operations group head offinance and administration when he joined the Pepkor group in2006 as commercialdirector of Shoe City. He became the commercial director of Ackermans in 2008,and financial director of Ackermans in 2009. He was appointed as the groupfinancial director of the Pepkor group in February 2016.Riaan serves as adirector on a number of subsidiary boards in the Pepkor group.
