Cobus has many years ofexperience in the African mining sector. He qualified as a chartered accountantwith Deloitte & Touche in South Africa. Prior to joining Pan African, hewas managing director of Shanduka Resources, a mining investment business and partof the Shanduka Group, which was headed by Cyril Ramaphosa prior to himbecoming South African president. He has been a director of Pan African since2009, serving as financial director from 2013 until his appointment as chiefexecutive officer on 1 March 2015.

Financial Director

Deon has extensive finance andbusiness experience, which includes investment banking, advisory and businessadministration in the finance and mining sectors. As a founding member ofInvestec Bank’s emerging market finance team, he was involved in financingmining transactions in sub-Saharan Africa for more than a decade. He fulfilledthe roles of chief financial officer of Shanduka Coal, financial director ofSentula Mining Limited, director of Resource Finance Advisers and head ofresource structured finance at Investec Bank.
